The SURGE Hub

The SURGE sandbox has ~5,000 sq. ft of space housed in the Department of Oceanography in the Life Sciences Centre of Dalhousie University. The space is designed as a flexible space for teaching, workshops, demonstrations, coworking, with worktables, seating for 48 people, an AV system for presentation, hardware resources for creative scientific exploration and demonstration, and staff office space.

    The SURGE Hub is where the innovation spark is lit. Here, SURGE is able to run a wide range of programs for all ages, from K-12 to university groups. Our programs are designed to meet students where they’re at, enriching their educational experience with highly engaging programs that develop their skills.

    There’s more than one “i” in “innovation”. The SURGE Hub serves as the place where the SURGE Team gathers to develop, plan, and execute programs that go on to impact thousands of people. Without these people, there would be no SURGE and no programs to run.
